UK NEWLY QUALIFIED NURSES IN AUSTRALIA |
UK and Ireland - Newly Qualified Nurses in Australia
As a newly qualified United Kingdom or Republic of Ireland Registered Nurse you are able to come to Australia to work. Australia recognises United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland qualifications and values your skills and training, and has always embraced nurses from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Each State in Australia has specific requirements for registration. The qualification, diploma or degree, and the institution where your qualification was awarded, will determine the requirements for submission for Registration in an Australian State/Territory.
As at 1 July 2010 a National Registration and Accreditation Scheme will commence. This will see the introduction of a single national registration. At this time it is not known how this will affect new graduates, however it may be that the higher standard/ criteria where you are required to have a specified period of experience in the qualification prior to registration will be asked for.
As this may be the case it is advisable for new graduates and those who will graduate before this date to prepare and lodge application for registration as soon as it is possible.
Since 1 July 2009 all States now require you to sit an English test, no matter how good your English language skills are.
